Smoke 51 Review (Fifty One)

This is the Smoke 51 Review. Just to clarify there are 2 types of Smoke 51 starter kits out there. The Trio and the Duo. What’s the difference? The trio is a 3-piece system which uses a battery, atomizer and cartridge. The duo is a 2-piece system which only uses the battery and cartomizer (atomizer and cartridge in one.) Since things are always evolving, the Smoke 51 Trio kit is eventually turning into a duo. You can now purchase Trio Cartomizers (atomizer and cartridge in one) so basically the Trio and Duo kits are now the same. The only difference is the threading so when you purchase refill cartridges, make sure to purchase the correct one for your kit.

This review is based on the Smoke 51 Trio starter kit. Now that I’ve explained how the trio and duo are pretty much the same kit now, the choice is really yours. Trio kits seem to be on the cheaper side so if price is a factor, go with the Trio.

All Smoke 51 (Fifty One) electronic cigarettes are automatic so there is no button to push. All you do is smoke it like a regular cigarette. It activates when you puff on it.
You have the choice of how many batteries you want. The starter kit comes with 2, however if you don’t need 2 batteries, you can opt for only 1 and save yourself some money.

Inside the box comes with 6 refills in 11mg of Tobacco for your Trio. That’s equivalent to about 10-12 packs of regular cigarettes. There are other flavors available so be sure to purchase additional cartomizers if you don’t regularly smoke tobacco cigarettes.

The Smoke 51 brand is under Vapor Corp and is the only electronic cigarette company that is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (OTCBB: VPCO) You know that this is a major company backed and funded with millions of dollars so the product is of high quality. It is not a fly by night company and that is how they can offer the lifetime warranty.

Quality and design: 10/10
The Smoke 51 Trio is a high quality product with a realistic look of a traditional cigarette. It is not cheap in design or quality in anyway. The standard battery is just the right size. It feels great in your hands.

Throat hit: 9/10 (Depends on strength of nicotine)
There are different strengths and I was able to test the 0mg, 10mg, 15mg and 20mg menthol.
If you are looking for a good, strong throat hit, start with the 20mg. This is considered their high strength nicotine and will satisfy all smokers. The 15mg is the medium and gives an average throat hit. The 10mg and 0mg give a small throat hit so if you do not like the throat hit at all, I’d recommend the 0mg or 10mg.

Battery life: 10/10
The battery life for the Smoke 51 Trio lasts a couple of hours. If you are puffing on it occasionally it can last about 6 hours on one charge. For those who smoke about a pack a day of traditional cigarettes, I would recommend going with the 2 battery starter kit so you can always have one battery charging. The last thing you want is to have your battery die on you and you have to wait 2 hours to recharge it.

Flavors: 5/10
There are only 2 flavors to choose from: Tobacco or Menthol. No empty cartridges are available to fill up with your own e-liquid. I would say that is the only downfall to this e-cigarette however you can check the e-cig compatibility chart and use other cartomizers with different flavors on this electronic cigarette.

Price: 7/10
You get what you pay for and this electronic cigarette is more on the higher end of the price spectrum. You do have to remember that it is a publicly traded company and they offer a lifetime warranty. Those are the 2 big pluses. With that said it does come with a hefty price. The Smoke 51 Trio starter kits with 2 batteries start at $129 and 1 battery kits are $99. If you want a company that stands behind their product and offers a lifetime warranty so you never have to worry, go with the Smoke 51.

This is the Smokeless Image Volt Review. How does it stack up against the competition? First choose which starter kit will work best for you. The starter kits are very customize-able, choose between different colored batteries and choose the color of your LED light!

You also have a choice of battery type: Automatic or manual. The automatic you just smoke like a regular cigarette and is activated when you inhale. The manual has a small button on the battery which you press every time you inhale. It’s really a choice of preference, one is not necessarily better then the other. I decided to get 1 of each so I could decide for myself.

You get to choose the battery size: Mini 65mm (220mAh) or Standard 78mm (320mAh). I chose to go with the standard 78mm. Of course the standard battery will last a longer then the mini and is longer in size also. This again is preference, but if you want to make sure your battery doesn’t die out on you, get the standard. For those of you who like to keep a cigarette in your mouth and keep it hands free, the mini 65mm is the way to go.

After choosing your color, the battery type and battery size, you then choose your flavor. The starter kit comes with a 5 pack of cartomizers in your choice of flavor: Watermelon, Vanilla, Smooth Sampler, Sweet Sampler, RY4, Ice Menthol, Grape, Dessert Joe, Cowboy, Chocolate, Cherry, Cappuccino, 555, Menthol Burst, Classic Grape or 5 blank empty cartridges. I decided to try the classic grape flavor because I like almost everything that comes in grape flavor. As you can see, there are a ton of choices so just choose what sounds best to you.

After choosing your e-liquid flavor, you then decide on the Nicotine level: It ranges from 0% (none) to 2.4%(XHigh.) The nicotine level is dependent on what kind of a smoker you are. It is recommended to go with a larger dose and steadily decrease the nicotine level until you find the right one for you. I am not big on nicotine so I went with the 0mg.

Your last choice will be if you want the portable charging case or the mega charging case which comes in 4 colors (blue, orange, purple or gray.) The big difference between the two charging cases is the mega is a lot larger because it can charge both batteries at once, plus hold up to 6 cartomizers. There’s no difference in price so it’s a matter of preference if you want something portable that can fit in your pocket or purse or if you want an all in one charging station that can hold different flavors. I went with the regular portable charging case as it’ll do the job for me plus fit in my pocket.

Quality and design: 10/10
The Smokeless Image Volt is a high quality product with a nice finish to it. It is not cheap in design or quality in anyway. The standard battery is just the right size. The texture of the Volt is feels great in your hands.

Throat hit: 7/10 (0mg Classic Grape, varies and is a personal choice)
I tried the 0mg of nicotine and it has a very small throat hit.
Good for those who don’t want a big throat hit, not too harsh on the throat, just right. If you’re looking for a good throat, I’d suggest getting a stronger mg of nicotine and it should satisfy you. There is a lot of vapor that comes with each hit, but remember, everybody has their own style of puffing. Some people care about the amount of vapor while others care more about the throat hit. I’m sure with the higher dosage of nicotine, the throat hit will be fine.

Battery life: 10/10
The standard 78mm battery gave about 3 hours of battery life. Since I am a casual e-smoker, having 2 batteries will last me through the entire day without worrying. You will be happy with the battery life of the Volt as it’s the largest battery I’ve seen in this type of electronic cigarette. The 78mm is a 320mAh battery. The Halo G6 is also 78mm however only rates at 280mAh so it last a little longer. Most standard electronic cigarette batteries are 150mAh! Enjoy longer battery life!

Flavors: 10/10
The name speaks for itself, classic grape. Now they did come out with a new grape flavor which has a hint of tobacco in it. Since I’m all about the flavor, I chose to go with classic because I’m not really found of the tobacco taste. Try the new grape flavor if you want the best of both worlds.
The flavors they carry are Watermelon, Vanilla, Smooth Sampler, Sweet Sampler, RY4, Ice Menthol, Grape, Dessert Joe, Cowboy, Chocolate, Cherry, Cappuccino, 555, Menthol Burst, and Classic Grape. If you don’t mind refilling the cartomizers yourself, they do carry e-liquid also. 10ml and 30ml available. There’s something for everyone. If you do not like any of their flavors then you are more than welcome to buy your e-liquids elsewhere and just get the blank empty cartridges. This is a great option for those who are picky or have already found their favorite flavor. Not all electronic cigarettes give you the option of getting a blank cartridge to use your own e-liquid.

For the high quality product, great battery life and awesome flavors, the price is just right. The basic starter kit is only $29.95. It includes 1 battery, a usb charger and 5 cartridges. Enough to get you started for those new to electronic cigarettes or for those who just want to try it out. The next step up is the Standard Kit which is $44.95, which includes the extra battery and wall charger. For those who smoke a little more, this is the best option for you. For $64.95, you can buy the Volt Pro starter kit which includes everything listed above PLUS the portable charging case which is a nifty device. Once you use it, you’ll never know how you lived without it. All the starter kits are great prices compared to other electronic cigarettes and for the quality you’re getting. Visit your local mall and you’ll see kits going for as high as $99 and you don’t nearly as much as you do with these kits.

Blu Cigs is a very widely marketed brand and claims to be the #1 brand when it comes to electronic cigarettes. This is a pretty bold assertion, and one that requires looking into because of the possible repercussions for someone giving it a try. Clearly, the expectations that one has when first looking into Blu Cigs are:

A comparable experience to smoking minus the negative effects of tar and other chemicals.
A ‘true’ smoking ‘experience’ – this means your vaping (using electronic cigs is known as vaping because it gives out water vapor instead of smoke) will feel the same as smoking.
A small size – comparable to that of a real cigarette (this is of course necessary to actually get the same ‘feel’). This is actually something that should be high on priority list if you’re looking for a realistic smoking experience.
A long life, low cost, and ease of use.
Acceptable social usage if needed (like in an airplane where smoking would typically be banned).
Blu does a commendable job of ‘selling’ one on these claims, so lets get right down to the nitty-gritty.

First Impressions

The starter kit includes an ingenious charging pack. This is, in my opinion, one of the ‘coolest’ part of the package – the cigarettes can be charged while in the pack, so you don’t misplace the e-cigs as much (like I used to), and it looks stylish at the same time! The new premium starter kit has a new social feature which will notify you with a beep when another Blu Cig smoker is in the area with the social pack also.

Battery, Packing, Appearance

The next immediate thing you notice is the appearance of the cigs. They’re, true to the claim, the smallest e-cigs I’ve seen. The e-cig is essentially composed of just the battery, and the atomizer that plugs into the cartridge that in turn delivers the nicotine solution (or the solution that you decide to go with). Each battery use should last about a day (depends on your smoking/vaping habits really). Of course, this isn’t a big issue at all, because with Blu, you just put your battery back in the Blu pack like you would store a cigarette in its pack and it gets charged! You only need to charge the blu pack once every 4 to 6 days (again, depends on how much you smoke/vape). This is EASILY the longest lasting battery system ever – and it’s quite a shock when you try a different e-cig again to realize you don’t have this luxury.

The Blu cig comes in both black and white, and lights up a sweet-looking blue color (hence the name) when you ‘drag’ (puff on it). I personally like the black color, but the white color is just as good looking. The blue light is actually a blessing since people can clearly see you’re not smoking a traditional cigarette – which results in much lower requests to stop smoking

The Main Point – The Hit!

Blu, as you can see on their site, comes with various flavors, and amongst the various e-cigs, it is one of the best tasting ones. HOWEVER, you want to understand something – e-cigs in general are EXTREMELY sensitive, and I’d say Blu is amongst the most sensitive ecigs out there. This means that instead of a ‘hard and heavy’ drag, you want to inhale very lightly. The taste is great, and it feels strongly on your throat, which is what you need for the best vaping experience. I’d venture to say that most people who give Blu Cigs a shot, will likely never consider a different e-cig again! Just remember to drag lightly and for a longer time instead of heavily.

The Problem

The one major issue I’ve found with Blu electronic cigarettes is that when you first start using it, you realize that you’re really not getting all the liquid in the cartridge. This is because of how the cartridge is structured – there is a small tin foil that your atomizer pokes through to get to the liquid. The problem arises when you shut push the battery part into the cartridge only lightly. The atomizer doesn’t go through the foil very well, and results in a small amount coming through. Instead, shut it with a little force (not much force, just slightly more than average), and twist the battery part in a couple of times (think of shutting a pen and just twisting the cap a couple of times). This pushes the atomizer through cleanly…in fact, most of the time if you pull the cig apart after doing this, the foil will come off on the atomizer tip – so just take it off, and you’re good to go!
For anyone having issues with vaping with Blu, this is the easiest solution!
